HERE’S THE RUNDOWN ON THE FIRST FEW NIGHTS

NIGHT 1.  October 11, 2009 – “HOW GREAT IS OUR GOD”

“HOW GREAT IS OUR GOD”  - We’ll open the evening hearing Chris Tomlin singing the recording he made famous, “How Great is Our God”

“POWERS OF TEN”  - Never before has such grand ideas been explained so clearly and perfectly. From the creative genius of master designer Charles Eames, (the Eames Chair and the Polaroid Land Camera) this is a masterpiece that goes beyond film and animation and goes further to show our place in the God’s incredible universe. A scene starts on a picnic and then the shot zooms out to space at 10 times speed at each second: it leaves the picnic, shows all of the harbor, Chicago, the Mid-west Earth and then into deep, deep space. The scale has never been evaluated quite like this before. It then takes us from deep space to the sub-atomic molecule on the hand of the picnicker on the lawn in Chicago in reverse, ten times faster.

“THE DIVINE BUTLER” - America, America, God certainly has shed His grace on thee. This country has been a land flowing with milk and honey. It’s been a nation of abundance – the envy of the world. God has blessed America. But in recent years things have changed. Think back to 911 when our enemies killed 3,000 of our people. Or think of all the killer tornadoes, or the massive hurricanes that line up off our shores. The amount of hurricanes has doubled since 1970. There were an amazing 245 tornados in one month! Or think of the non-stop floods, and terrible droughts, and the incessant onslaught of cancerous diseases. Is this supposed to be part of God shedding His grace upon us?  Remember what God promised Israel . . . but He then warned that if they disobeyed Him, they would lose those blessings. Their marriages would fall part, the nation would fall into debt, immigrants would invade their land and they would not have victory over their enemies. Do you sense the similarities to America today? Best selling author Ray Comfort and Kirk Cameron (“Growing Pains,” “Fireproof”) are our hosts a we examine that question.

“HOW GREAT IS OUR GOD” - I believe that all Christians should see and hear this message. We hear a lot of people talk about science and God, but no one has ever done a more beautiful job bringing the two together than our host Louie Giglio. I believe that this is truly a definitive video that basically confirms that God cares for his people in a way you will never forget. I would invite all of your atheist friends to see this video. You and they will never be the same.

A MUSICAL SURPRISE

NOTE: Children over 10 are encouraged to attend with their parents.

NIGHT 2.   November 8, 2009 – “STAND FOR WHAT IS RIGHT”

“THE SHOOTING” - CBS’ highest rated  “After School Special” of the year in 1983 starring Oscar and Emmy winning actress Lynn Redgrave, Barry Primus, Lance Kerwin and Wil Weaton. It is the story of how 3 young boys innocent act involving a gun went terribly wrong.

The fim was Executive Produced and Produced by Bryan Hickox and was Nominated for five National EMMY Awards, winner of two in 1983, winner of the Southern California Motion Picture Council GOLDEN HALO Award, Winner of the National Film Advisory Boards Award of Excellence, winner of the Writer's Guild of America Award for Best Children's Special  and the winner of the Best New Artist Award

“DEAD WRONG THE JOHN EVANS STORY” – Was the highest rated “After School Special” in CBS network’s entire history. This riveting drama explores how a child’s simple act of petty theft can lead to a far more serious life of crime. Heralded by reviewers as the most powerful and compelling movie for young people ever made for television.

The film stars John Laughlin, Bibi Besch, Ed Lauter, Timothy Gibbs. It was Executive Produced and Produced by Bryan Hickox and was nominated for four National EMMY Awards, winner of the Best Children Informational Special EMMY 1984, winner CINE Golden Eagle, winner First Place Gold Award in the N.Y. International Film and Tape Festival, winner of the Ohio State Achievement of Merit, and Winner Best Young Artist.

I will discuss the making of these two films before they are screened and answer questions afterward.

Bring your children over 10 these are two films they will never forget!

  NIGHT 3.   December 13, 2009 – “A UNIQUE LOOK AT CHRISTMAS

“THE STAR OF BETHLEHEM” - This amazing film explores scientific validation of the biblical account of the star of Bethlehem. For millennia, believers, scoffers and the curious have wondered at the Biblical account of the Star. An attorney methodically recounts unusual or even impossible astronomical events at Christ's birth.

The film was Executive Produced by my friend Steve McEveety the Producer of “The Passion of The Christ,” “We Were Soldiers,” “Braveheart” “Juno” and “A Man Without a Face”

“MOST”– This brilliant short film, produced by my friend Billy Zabka, was an Official selection at the prestigious Sundance Film Festival, the Maui Film Festival, it won the Heartland Film Festival, the Palm Springs Film Festival and to top it off it won the Academy Award Winner for Best Short Live action film of 2003.

This movie is absolutely breathtaking. The parallels in this movie to Biblical truth are staggering and the sheer art form it possesses is remarkable. If you have not seen it, I strongly urge you to. This movie will stay with you many months after watching it, I am still amazed by it.

Because of the intensity of some of the scenes in Most I do not recommend this evening for children under 14.

NIGHT 4 - January 10,2010

The power of reconciliation

You’ll meet, in person, Paul Cuny, the President of Marketplace Leadership International who will detail the incredible Christian conversion of his friend Matthieu Kerekou, President of the African country of Benin, the slave trading capital of Africa. Paul will set up one of the evening’s films on the worldwide reconciliation service that took place in the birthplace of Voodoo.

In that video of the Benin Reconciliation Conference attended by government officials from dozens of countries, including the United States, you will experience the very trip millions of African’s took as their own black brothers and sisters sold them into slavery. And you will experience, first hand, the miracles of reconciliation that occurred at that conference, thanks to President Kerekou. It will be an experience you will never forget.

Another video except of the “They Will Know Us By Our Love” 2003 concert will be shown featuring excerpts of Martin Luther King’s famous I’ve got a dream speech.

The Rev. Dr. Jack Gaines, author of the book “My Brother’s Keeper not My Brother’s Killer,” will travel from his home in Virginia to be with us live to give us his first hand account of President KereKou’s first visit to an African American church in the America and the miracle that occurred there. Then we’ll show the Ambassador of Benin, in Jacksonville, asking African Americans Christians of this country for forgiveness for their part in slave trading.

The evening will conclude with one additional video excerpt from the 2003 concert. This clip deals with Jewish/Christian reconciliation. It will be followed by a live explination of why that is so critically important to both Jew and Christian by Rabbi Eliezer Ben Yehuda, fresh from a month in Jerusalem. The Rabbi, whose Grandfather is responsible for Hebrew being the official language of Israel, is a world renowned expert on jewish/Christian reconciliation.

“The number one problem in our world is alienation, rich versus poor, black versus white, Labor versus management, conservative versus liberal, east versus west . . . But Christ came to bring about reconciliation and peace.”

                                                                                                                                                                                               Rev. Billy Graham

NIGHT 5 - VALENTINE’S NIGHT - FEBRUARY 14, 2010

“A LOVE LIKE NO OTHER”

NIGHT 6 - MARCH 14, 2010   “AMAZING GRACE”

This sixth evening in our series is entitled “AMAZING GRACE” it is rated G so Children over 10 are encouraged to attend.

We’ll watch a behind the scenes film about the making of the feature film “Amazing Grace” with interviews with the producers, Michael Apted, the director and many of the stars. We’ll learn about the British statesman and reformer William Wilberforce’s extraordinary contributions to the world, primarily his 20-year fight to abolish the British slave trade. By the time this documentary is over, if you haven’t seen the film Amazing Grace you will want to.

If you love the song AMAZING GRACE you will love this musical documentary of its history. It features The Boys Choir of Harlem, Johnny Cash, Judy Collins, Jeremy Irons, Jessye Norman, Jean Ritchie and Marion Williams.

Across time, oceans and cultures, “Amazing Grace" has endured as one of the most popular pieces of music in the English language. Its universal appeal inspired the acclaimed journalist Bill Moyers to tell the story of this song through the people who have sung it. “Amazing Grace With Bill Moyers" is an entertaining look at a song that's been recorded by more popular artists than any other hymn in history. From pop singer Judy Collins and opera star Jessye Norman in New York, to Philadelphia gospel singer Marion Williams and Kentucky folk singer Jean Ritchie, these stirring, very diverse performances were recorded in stereo on locations all across America. Along with the music, the artists reveal the power that “Amazing Grace" has had in their personal lives, which makes the film a touching emotional experience. Unlike typical documentaries, the story behind “Amazing Grace" unfolds without relying on narration. Complementing the artists' comments is the superb British actor Jeremy Irons, speaking from the writings of the 18th century Englishman who composed the song. The film explores the irony that the author was a slave ship captain, who later reformed and worked to abolish slavery. It reveals what Moyers calls "a paradox that I find at the heart of most human situations."

The message of renewal in “Amazing Grace" comes through with humor and poignancy in this remarkable film. It is impossible to watch with arms folded and mouth closed, and it will touch a chord in anyone who sees it.
